COVID-19 19/03/2020

The ongoing situation regarding COVID-19 is impacting all of us and in this time of uncertainty we wanted to reassure you that providing care for our clients and their animals remains our top priority.

Our practice is open for business as usual and as you would expect we are putting in place a number of steps to ensure that we reduce the risk of virus transmission. The health and wellbeing of our patients, staff and the wider community is paramount.

We wanted to take the opportunity to share with you what we are putting in place as precautionary steps:

Farm & equine clients visiting practice premises:

  • Clients who are unable to travel to our practice will be able to have a telephone or video consultation. Please contact the reception team who can discuss suitable communication platforms (eg Skype, Facetime, WhatsApp etc), appointment slots and payment
  • If you are experiencing symptoms or are in self-isolation but you have a horse or farm animal that needs to visit to receive further attention, please ask a family member, friend or colleague/employee to bring them in. If this is not possible then we can meet you and a member of staff will accompany your animal only into the practice. Where horses or farm animals need a lengthy examination or treatment, clients are encouraged to leave their animal, not wait around the practice or wait in their vehicle if there are enough practice staff available
  • All clients arriving with animals must telephone (from inside your vehicle) to notify us of your arrival, please do not enter the premises
  • Like many we encourage card payment rather than cash to help maintain high hygiene standards
  • Follow-up examinations, including repeat prescriptions, may be conducted via video consultation where possible. We expect that in most instances you may visit us to collect medications however request that you call ahead to order

Farm/yard visits:

  • Preventative health care and routine visits may be adjusted or if appropriate changed to telephone or video consultations by practice teams to ensure that our resources are managed most effectively in order to provide the best possible care during this time
  • When booking visits reception staff will ask some general questions about you/your teams’ Covid-19 status, if you are experiencing symptoms or are in self-isolation, please ask a family member, friend or colleague/employee to be present for the visit. Should your status change prior to a visit we request notification to arrange alternative plans in advance
  • All clients are requested to minimise the number people interacting with our staff during visits
  • Follow-up examinations, including repeat prescriptions, may be conducted via video consultation where possible. We expect that in most instances you may visit us to collect medications however request that you call ahead to order

Thank you for your support over the coming days and weeks. We will keep in touch with you should the situation change further. Please keep an eye on our website or follow us on Facebook for the latest updates.

Finally, we wanted to end by saying a huge thank you to the practice team. Everyone is working hard in difficult circumstances. If you’re able to say thank you to them when you see them, I know they would hugely appreciate it.
